Find out how our team of experienced dietitians can help you.
Bloating is the sensation where the abdomen feels full and tight and may appear swollen, sometimes causing pain and cramps. Abdominal bloating can be caused by several things, such as lactose intolerance, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and constipation, and our diet is usually the main contributing factor. People often suffer in silence as they are not aware that their symptoms can be improved, however with a range of approaches and a little help from a registered dietitian you may see huge changes.
Our virtual clinic makes it easy to connect with one of our specialist clinicians, while still ensuring personalised treatment and effective results, wherever you are.
Use our online booking tool to select an appointment at a time & date that suit you.
If it's your first time using our service, you'll need to register your account with us.
You'll receive an email with clear instructions showing you how to join your virtual appointment.
Your dietitian will join virtually to discuss your diet, lifestyle & health goals.
If you are suffering from bloating on a regular basis, we recommend that you visit your GP prior to your dietetic appointment in order to rule out any medical cause for your symptoms.
Functional Bloating can be diagnosed when you have a recurrent feeling of bloating or visible distension at least 3 days in a month over the last 3 months, and when there is insufficient evidence for a diagnosis of functional dyspepsia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or other functional GI disorders. Most of the time symptoms of bloating can be resolved through dietary modification.
During your initial consultation, your dietitian will assess your symptoms, diet and lifestyle. The overall aim of diet therapy is to identify potential trigger foods, reduce symptoms of bloating and improve your quality of life.
The dietitians at Spectrum Nutrition can help to identify the root cause of bloating; whether it is a symptom of wheat intolerance, IBS or a reaction to certain fibres or sugars in the diet. We will equip you with the knowledge and skills to prevent or manage bloating for good.
Your dietitian will also carry out a complete nutritional assessment, taking a diet history and body composition analysis, including weight, BMI, waist circumference, body fat percentage, lean body mass, waist to hip measurement and more. You will receive:
