Get clinically effective treatment and advice for managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) through our IBS Clinic, where our registered dietitians are experts in digestive health
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is one of the most functional gastrointestinal disorders. It is an emerging health issue commonly associated with diet and lifestyle behaviours and symptoms can include abdominal pain or discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and gas. Other negative symptoms of IBS include back pain, migraine, depression and stomach issues. Through our IBS Clinic, our experts can provide the care and guidance you need to effectively manage your IBS and get relief from your symptoms.
Not surprisingly, living with IBS can be difficult. It can have a negative impact on your professional, personal and social life. Many people go undiagnosed and never learn how to take control of their IBS. Some people just learn to cope with the lack of sleep, lethargy, anxiety, time off work, avoidance of stressful or social situations which are commonly associated with IBS. But you don’t have to put up with this.
The good news is that focusing on your nutrition is an extremely effective way to treat and manage IBS, and that is why we at Spectrum Nutrition have designed two bespoke IBS Programmes, which include one-to-one sessions with a registered dietitian, tailored diet plans designed especially for you, as well as aditional supporting digital resources and materials to aid your progress.
Our expert dietitians have designed two bespoke IBS Programmes; Love Your Gut and FODMAPs, which you can purchase directly or access through our IBS Clinic. Find out more about our IBS programmes below.
Spectrum Love Your Gut is 2-Session Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Programme designed and led by our fully accredited specialist digestive health dietitians.
In your first session of the Love Your Gut programme, you will meet your dietitian via video appointment, and they will complete a full detailed dietary assessment and answer any questions you may have. You will then receive personalised recommendations, meal/recipe plans, and additional dietary guidance materials for you to follow.
At your second session two weeks later, your progress and symptoms will be reviewed, any issues will be discussed, strategies to further improve symptoms will be expored and, dependant on the outcomes, your dietitian may advise you to complete a trial of a low fodmaps diet in the form of our designated FODMAPs Programme (Programme 2), which you can find out more about below.
The Love Your Gut Programme is the recommended initial phase for anyone who is dealing with IBS, or thinks they may be dealing with IBS or a similar digestive issue, to complete in order for us to assess your case, deliver first line IBS management guidance, and review your progress and whether additional treatment and a low FODMAPs diet is required. In some cases, low FODMAPs may not be required, so that is why we recommend that you complete this programme first.
Includes: 2 x 30-minute fortnightly one-to-one video sessions with a registered dietitian
Price: €95
The Low FODMAP diet is the only evidence-based elimination diet for the management of symptoms in IBS and functional gut disorders. The low FODMAP diet is used to identify triggers foods, not to cure gut disorders. Once your FODMAP triggers have been identified, 75% of people will have symptom relief by avoiding their FODMAP triggers.
The FODMAPs diet is most effective when delivered by a FODMAPs trained and registered dietitian. This is why we have developed our FODMAPs programme, which consists of 4 30-minute video sessions with one of our specialised low fodmap trained dietitians, who have all completed either world recognised MONASH University or Kings College London Low FODMAP Diet Training.
Our team will support you through every step of the low FODMAP diet, most importantly following the elimination stage when you will be guided through the reintroduction of FODMAPs in a staged approach to help you identify the triggers for your specific symptoms. You will then receive a personalised low FODMAP plan, meaning you will finish your programme knowing exactly which FODMAPs are the triggers and how to manage this going forward.
We recommend that prior to purchasing the Spectrum FODMAPs programme you firstly complete Spectrum Love Your Gut, so that we can establish whether the FODMAPs programme is right for you. However, you may book the low FODMAPs programme directly if your GP or medical professional has already recommended a low FODMAP diet for you.
