This weekend sees the Vodafone Dublin City Triathlon (26th August) taking place in the Phoenix Park. This fantastic event which is organised by Piranha Triathlon Club is now in its 8th year. Those who are competing in this are probably winding down into light training before the event to ensure there are no last minute injuries. The race is of course a gruelling one but what does it entail?

The Triathlon

There are two divisions in this race. The Olympic Race and the Sprint Race.

Olympic – This consists of a 1500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run.

Sprint – This consists of 600m swim, a 16km cycle and a 4km run.

The Physio Company at the Triathlon

Here at The Physio Company we are aware of the physical repercussions after the race and so we will provide assistance  through the provision of our physiotherapists at the finish line. Six of our physios, Muirna Hamill, John Jordan, Danielle Mah, Blaithin Brady, Caroline Walsh and Niamh Connelly will be there to help individuals out. We will provide a warm down service, physio treatments and an injury station for those who might need some assistance. This is all free of charge so please feel free to use this service after the race if you need.

In the meantime good luck to all those competing, hopefully this an injury free event for you. For those not competing, pop down and lend your voices to support these great athletes!
